Dried pineapple chunks are just like our pineapple rings, only cut into smaller pieces. Rich in dietary fiber, antioxidants and enzymes, dried pineapple chunks are a healthy treat. They have a delectable sweet flavor and are the perfect size for snacking or baking. (Oh, and parrots love them too!)
Health Benefits of Dried Pineapple Chunks
A single serving of dried pineapple chunks is a good source of insoluble fiber. This type of fiber supports a healthy digestive system and promotes a sense of fullness. Snacking on dried pineapple is an excellent choice when you have a sweet tooth but are looking for a healthy treat. It’s also rich in antioxidants, the protective compounds that prevent the build-up of damaging free radicals in the body. Free radicals are associated with age-related degeneration and disease, and antioxidant-packed dried pineapple is a great defense against them.
Dried pineapple is also packed with bromelain, an anti-inflammatory enzyme. It reduces unnecessary swelling and can aid recovery post-surgery and after sports injuries. Bromelain also provides relief from indigestion and upset stomachs. It supports the digestive system by breaking down proteins and is beneficial for people that do not produce enough digestive enzymes on their own. The bromelain in dried pineapple chunks is beneficial to the immune system, too. It boosts your body’s natural defense system to protect against colds and illnesses. Be sure to snack on some dried pineapple during cold and flu season!

I own a busy real estate investment company. Throughout the day, I usually look for something in my home office to snack on. It can't just be anything; it must be healthy, not too much sugar or salt. A few years ago, I developed a love for pineapple and tried a supermarket brand. It contained a chemical that caused itching so that didn't work. It had to be dried natural pineapple, not too sweet (where I'd have sugar overload!), no chemicals, artificial flavors or colors. During an online search, nuts.com came up. My first order was the 1 pound dried pineapple chunks. They didn't last long since I (and my hubby) went through them like nothing. I added it to my trail mix, then found at reorder time, buying two 1 lb. bags. Then, I discovered the 5 lb. bag which lasts a really long time. My other fave: the Ultimate Bridge Mix. Am working on ordering more dried fruit as a healthier alternative to knosh on throughout my day. Nuts.com is the best!
